The Feminist Placemaking Academy is back this autumn in Copenhagen — just as the city is celebrated as one of the most liveable cities in the world. But an important question remains: what are the metrics? What data are we using? And where are all the women in the story of our cities?
The academy in Copenhagen is a one-day immersive learning programme that explores how feminist urbanism can transform the way we design, experience, and govern cities. Combining theory with hands-on practice, the Academy equips participants with practical tools to create safer, more inclusive, and equitable public spaces.
A city can rank highly in liveability indexes, but does it work equally for everyone? Who feels safe? Who has access? Whose experiences are included in the data, and whose voices remain invisible? We will explore what makes a city truly feminist, moving beyond traditional measurements to understand lived experiences, gender mainstreaming, participatory approaches, and the tools needed to create more inclusive urban environments.
